When do you need the IND or central government for integration?

Not every question about integration is a learning or exam question. Sometimes the subject shifts to right of residence, naturalization or legal context. Then the IND and the central government become more important than the usual trajectory sites.

01

IND and the National Government complement each other

IND counter

For residence status, extension, permanent residence and naturalization.

National government

For legislation, policy and the background of rules.

Not for every day

For normal trajectory or study questions, Inburgeren.nl, DUO and municipality are often more practical.

02

Signs that you probably need to go to IND or the National Government

  • Your question is about right of residence or naturalization.
  • You want to know why a rule is legally structured this way.
  • Stay and integration are intertwined at the same time.
  • A general trajectory site does not provide the answer because the core question is legal.

03

Read two layers separately

When stay and integration play at the same time, it helps not to squeeze them into one question. First read what your program requires in practical terms and separately what your residence status legally determines.

Frequently asked questions

Important questions that come up often

Use these short answers as your first orientation, then open the matching guide for more detail.

Do you use the IND for every integration question?

No. IND is mainly important for residence and naturalization questions, not for most daily learning or exam questions.

Why does Rijksoverheid sometimes feel more abstract than other sites?

Because the central government often explains policy and legal context, while trajectory sites are more focused on direct implementation.

What if residence and integration occur at the same time?

Then read both layers separately: route explanation for your daily steps and IND for the consequences or conditions regarding residence rights.
